Helen Burton was a friend of Bertha Lum, and it was in the former's Gallery, at the Grand Hotel in Peking, that Bertha sold her prints. Shortly before the publication of this little guide (August 1934), an exhibition was held (March 1934) to give a preview of its illustrations: paintings and drawings.
