Princess Der Ling published books in the 1930's, illustrated by Bertha.

She wears her hair parted with the Manchu headdress; the robe looks like garments Der Ling wore at court. It was probably painted from one of the photographs Der Ling's bother, Hsun Ling, took when at court (1903-1905).
