Bertha got her inspirations from everyday life, like market scenes (( Jade Street ; cat n° 78 ; 1924 or Lung Fu Sou, Chinese Curio Market ; cat n° 79 ; 1924), but also from artworks surrounding her. I am thinking of her illustrations of the Noh theatre in Gods, Goblins and Ghost.

In this section I intend to make a few comparisons between her works and those of other artists, or between her works and photos of landscapes or people.
