Junks, Wei hai wei

In 1922, Bertha Lum and her daughters leave for Yokohama, but when they arrive at the hotel, they are told that no rooms are currently available and that they will have to wait a little. Bertha, who is not a very patient woman, immediately makes up her mind and returns without delay to the ship and leave for Peking, in order to study the Chinese printing technique.

They therefore set off for China: Shanghai, Tsingtao and Chefoo. In the summer they arrive at Wei hai wei, a British port and the summer base of the Royal Navy. According to Peter, this was a great place for swimming.
